Case Study · Full Custom Build
A portrait photographer's site, built to feel as intimate as her work.
Sally Bol is a portrait photographer in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, specializing in family, newborn, maternity, and personal portraiture. The site needed to carry her literary, emotionally-driven voice from the homepage through every gallery.
The Challenge
Sally’s brand leans heavily on voice — reflective, literary copy paired with intimate, unposed imagery — which meant the site needed to read as carefully as it needed to look. It also needed to organize four distinct session types (children, newborn & maternity, family, personal) into their own galleries without breaking the site’s slow, considered pacing.
The Approach
PowerUp built a gallery structure organized around Sally’s four session types, paired with a homepage built to read more like a personal essay than a typical photography portfolio. A consultation-focused contact flow and a seasonal newsletter signup were built in to turn that emotional connection into booked sessions.
